Presumptive Eligibility for Medicaid

A provision that allows providers to treat (and be reimbursed for) patients who they presume to be eligible for Medicaid, even if that patient is not yet enrolled (or is later deemed ineligible).

Quality Improvement Organization (QIO)

An organization tasked with reviewing the quality of care received by Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. Previously called a Peer Review Organization.
